Washington's agreement with Beijing costs German exporters billions
According to economist Gabriel Felbermayr, the recent trade agreement between the US and China is "particularly damaging to Germany". With trade agreements, German exports of goods to China are expected to decline by nearly four,5 billion US dollars next year, especially in the areas of vehicles, aircraft and industrial machinery, said the president of the Institute for World Economy Kiel (IfW) on Monday.
More importantly, it only hits Brazilian soybeans with five,0 billion US dollars. This showed calculations of the IfW.
Felbermayr pointed out that the agreement unilaterally commits the Chinese to importing US goods worth around 200 billion US dollars, thereby forgoing products from other countries that they had previously preferred. "On the other hand, it is disadvantageous for the other trading partners of China, whose imports are now being displaced by US products and which are losing significant market shares in China."
According to the calculations, Germany is most negatively affected internationally in the manufacturing industry and is expected to export 2021 goods worth four,3 billion US dollars less to China, compared to a scenario without a trade war and without this first trade agreement. This particularly applies to vehicles, aircraft and industrial machinery.(徳囯ASK电容器)
